A Federal High Court sitting in Ota, Ogun State, on Monday, January 12, arraigned controversial singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, over a nine-count criminal charge.
The singer’s charges include theft, assault, causing harm, and resisting arrest. His arraignment comes after a viral video on Sunday showed the singer in police custody, allegedly over a complaint filed by one of his baby mamas, Ashabi Simple.
Portable’s charges
The prosecution counsel alleges that Portable attacked Ashabi and obstructed a female police inspector, Ogungbe Olayemi, from carrying out her official duties. The singer also reportedly assaulted other people at his Odogwu bar on January 1, at his Odogwu Bar in Iyana Ilogbo.
Other people the Zazuu singer allegedly attacked include Ileyemi Damilola, Akinyanju Oluwabusayomi, Olowu Olumide, Demilade Ogunniyi, and Ebuka Odah.
The singer was also docked over an alleged theft of a Mercedes-Benz E300, worth N12 million, belonging to Ileyemi Damilola and bought from Wally Dex Auto.
At the hearing, Portable’s estranged baby mama, Ashabi, was not in court, but two of her siblings present testified as witnesses to the alleged assault.
An emotional Portable broke down in tears in court during the proceedings. His counsel applied for bail, but the judge declined to grant it, noting that the assaulted police officer was not in court.
The judge insisted that he must see the allegedly assaulted police officer before ruling on the singer’s bail application.
Portable has been remanded in custody until January 19, when his bail application will be considered. He is allegedly remanded at Ibara Correctional Centre.

Police arrest Portable in restaurant
Portable was arrested on Saturday, January 10, at a restaurant by his baby mama, Ashabi Simple, after a heated fight on New Year’s Day. The singer allegedly beat up Ashabi and her siblings, who went to his Odogwu bar in Ota.
