President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the postings of 34 non-career ambassadors and 31 career diplomats to various countries and the United Nations.
The Nigerian Senate confirmed the list of 65 career and non-career ambassadors-designate and High Commissioners in December 2025. after the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs screened and confirmed the nominees.
In a statement signed by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to commence the induction programme for the ambassadors-designate and High Commissioners.

Below are names and country of some of non-career ambassadors and high commissioners:
- Senator Grace Bent from Adamawa State, Lome-Togo
- Senator Ita Enang from Akwa Ibom State, South Africa
- Ekezie Victor Ikpeazu, a former governor of Abia State, Spain
- Nkechi Linda Ufochukwu from Anambra State, Tel-Aviv-Israel
- Mahmud Yakubu, the former chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from 2015 to 2025, hails from Bauchi State and is posted to Qatar
- Paul Oga Adikwu from Benue State is posted to The Vatcan City Holy See
- Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas, a former Chief of Naval Staff and sole administrator of Rivers State, who hails from Cross Rivers State is posted to The Philippines
- Reno Omokri from Delta State, Mexico City, Mexico
- Erelu Angela Adebayo, a former first lady of Ekiti State, Portugal
- Barr Olumilua Olwayimika Ayotunwa from Ekiti State, Tokyo, Japan
- Olufemi Pedro, a former deputy governor of Lagos State, Australia

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has already received an agrément (approval) from the United Kingdom for the High Commissioner-designate, Ambassador Aminu Dalhatu. Similarly, France has sent the agrément for Ambassador Ayo Oke.
The Ministry has also conveyed the nominations of the other 62 designated envoys to all the countries concerned, including a request for their agréments in line with standard diplomatic practice.
