Loved ones gather to celebrate Alexx Ekubo’s life
Family members, his wife Anwuli, friends, colleagues and associates defy the rain, gathered in Lagos for a moving service of songs held in honour of late Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo.
He died on May 11, from cancer of the kidney complications.
The emotional event brought together people from different walks of life who came to celebrate the actor’s life, legacy and contributions to Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
Throughout the gathering, attendees shared memories, prayers and heartfelt tributes. Many reflected on the impact Alex made both on and off the screen.
Photos and videos from the event captured a solemn yet uplifting atmosphere. While grief was evident, the gathering also served as a celebration of a life that touched many people.

The service of songs attracted a large number of prominent figures from the entertainment industry who defied the heavy rain to pay their last respect to an enigma, Alex Ekubo.
Among those in attendance were Oby Ezekwesili, actress Funke Akindele, media personality Toke Makinwa, singer Chike, Frank Edoho, E-Money, Kcee, Kate Henshaw, socialite Cubana ChiefPriest among others. Their presence highlighted the deep connections Alex Ekubo built throughout his career.

Worship and tributes mark Alexx Ekubo’s memorial service
The service featured powerful worship sessions led by some of Nigeria’s respected gospel ministers and prayers by Pastors Ituah Ighodalo, Jerry Eze and others.
Pastor Ituah Ighodalo specially prays for actor Alexx Ekubo’s widow, Anwuli, while Pastor Eno Jerry leads a heartfelt prayer for his family.
Popular gospel singer Ebuka Songs ministered during the event, alongside Peterson Okopi, Nathaniel Bassey and the Loud Urban Choir and more. Their performances created moments of reflection, prayer and hope.
The worship sessions resonated deeply with attendees, many of whom joined in singing and prayer.
