Davido’s World Cup outfit sparks backlash
A fierce war of words has erupted between international music star Davido and prominent northern musician Dauda Kahutu Rarara. The dispute began after Davido performed at the 2026 World Cup in the United States.
During his high-profile set, the Afrobeats singer wore a custom jacket displaying the names of 39 abducted pupils and teachers from Oriire Local Government Area in Oyo State.
However, this public demonstration did not sit well with the APC-aligned leaders.
Rarara quickly released a video criticising the outfit choice. He aggressively accused Davido of exposing Nigeria’s internal secrets and vulnerabilities to a global audience.

Furthermore, the Arewa singer compared the display to filming one’s own mother undressed, ultimately branding the protest as a form of unpatriotic “terrorism”.
World Cup outfit: Rarara accuses Davido of political sabotage
According to Rarara, the fashion statement was a calculated political stunt designed to embarrass President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the world stage.
He argued that no other country would tolerate such damaging conduct from an international ambassador. Consequently, the northern musician demanded a full investigation into Davido’s motives.
Rarara claimed that highlighting security failures internationally damages Nigeria’s global reputation. In his view, the “Bring Them Home” message on the jacket merely politicised a sensitive national tragedy. He urged public figures to shield national flaws rather than broadcasting them to foreign media.

Shortly after, the global icon released a series of strongly worded statements to condemn the politician’s stance.
The singer called Rarara an ignorant fool who prioritises personal political interests over the community’s welfare. Additionally, Davido maintained that every single Nigerian has a moral duty to speak out against rampant insecurity. He concluded by urging his critic to stop playing politics with human lives and to fear God.

“Every Nigerian should not stay silent about the insecurity plaguing the nation, nor should they prevent others from voicing their concerns openly. Showing bias and prioritizing personal or political interests, and putting personal desires above the community’s goals, is nothing to be proud of. Be a patriot for your country, stop prioritizing politics over the truth, and fear God in everything you do @kahuturarara“
