‘You Were More Than a Friend’
Celebrity fashion designer Yomi Casual has paid a touching tribute to his late friend, actor Alexx Ekubo, describing him as a brother whose absence has left a painful void in his life.
In a heartfelt message shared after the actor’s death, Yomi reflected on more than 15 years of friendship, loyalty and unforgettable memories.
“It is with a heavy heart that I write this tribute to my dear friend and brother, Alexx Ekubo,” he wrote.
According to the designer, their relationship extended far beyond friendship. He described Alexx as a trusted adviser, teacher and dependable companion who always showed up when needed.
“For over 15 years, Alexx was more than a friend to me. He was family,” Yomi said.
He added that the late actor became an integral part of his household, celebrating joyful moments with the family and standing by them during difficult times.
A Bond That Withstood Every Storm
Yomi recalled that their friendship was admired by many because of the genuine connection they shared.
Over the years, they laughed together, disagreed, settled arguments, built businesses and celebrated successes. Through every challenge, their bond remained strong.
“Our friendship was the envy of many because what we shared was rare. We lived like real brothers,” he said.
The designer also revealed that external pressures and rumours never weakened their relationship.
“The world tried everything to break us. People created stories and called us names, but they never understood the depth of our friendship,” he added.
His words painted a picture of a friendship built on trust, loyalty and mutual respect.

“If only I knew our time was running out, I would have done everything possible to be by your side.”
He also acknowledged the actor’s decision to keep his illness private, praising the courage and dignity with which he handled his struggles.
“Thank you for being the brother I chose and the friend anyone would be blessed to have,” Yomi wrote.
As he bid farewell, he remembered the phone calls, laughter, playful insults and countless conversations they shared.
“I will miss you deeply, Ore. Your memory will forever live in my heart. Rest peacefully, my dear brother. Until we meet again, you will never be forgotten.”
